In Memoriam

This page is dedicated to past members that served Stony Hill Fire and Rescue. We honor them here to show you, our friends, how dear they were to us. They volunteered their time away from their families to help us all. This is the true meaning of dedication.

Chief James Belot

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Past Chief Jim Belot. Jim gave his soul to the angels on Monday June 26, 2017 after a courageous battle with Cancer.

Jim served as Chief of Stony Hill from 1977 to 1983 and again in 2004.

He served the Department well, and found great happiness in his last year as a friend and mentor to the Department.

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”
– Joshua 1:9

Rest easy Chief, we got it from here.

The members of the Stony Hill Fire/Rescue and Bethel FD will truly miss her.

Terry Sullivan

Terry was a past member of our fire Department, she served as an EMT. Together Terry and her late husband Bob, also a past member were well loved throughout the department and will be dearly missed.

“”Live, Love, Laugh.” As a true reflection of who she was, and what we all knew her to stand for, the full statement should read: “Live, Love, Laugh and Give!” For that is the true essence of who she was, what she stood for”, as stated in her Obituary was true to form for the Sullivan team. Chief Emile Racenet

Emile joined Stony Hill FD in 1963 and served as Chief from 1983-1985. He served close to 40 years with our Company. He helped bring the department into the modern era through many projects and safety upgrades, sitting on the committee to purchase Engine 1 (now Engine 11), a 1983 Pierce Pumper that now serves the entire Town of Bethel as a reserve apparatus. He was the epitome of a no nonsense, hard working firefighter and Boss. He touched the lives of many both thru the FD and in his personal life and will be missed. Rest In Peace Chief, we got it from here. For more info on this great man click here.
